Baccarat Side Bets: What They Are and How They Pay

Quick Summary

  • Side bets are optional extra wagers on baccarat, such as pairs or card totals, placed alongside Player, Banker or Tie.
  • They usually pay more per win but win less often, so they tend to cost more over time.
  • Names and payouts differ between tables and providers; read each table's rules before betting.
  • Keep side bets small and optional, and never use them to chase a loss.

Baccarat is a simple game at its core: you bet on Player, Banker or Tie and the cards decide. Yet most live tables also show a row of extra bets with tempting payouts. These side bets add variety, and some players enjoy them as a small flutter on top of the main bet. They are also a quiet place where budgets disappear. This guide explains what the usual side bets are, how to judge them and how to use them sensibly.

The main bets first

Before looking at extras, make sure the basics are clear. The three main bets are Player, Banker and Tie, and they have different payouts that the table rules explain. Our live baccarat guide covers how hands are drawn and how the main bets settle.

Side bets sit next to those. They do not change the main hand, they only add another outcome to bet on. Because they are separate wagers, you can win one and lose the other in the same round, so your stake adds up faster than you may notice.

Common side bets

Names vary, but you will often meet these. A pair bet wins if the first two cards of the Player or Banker hand share the same rank. Big and small bets wager on the number of cards dealt in the round. Some tables add perfect pair, either pair, or bets on the hand totals or on a specific winning point.

Payouts are printed on the table's information screen, and they are not the same everywhere. We have not listed numbers because they differ by provider and table, and we could not view BEE999's live tables without a login on 5 November 2026. Always read the table rules.

  • Player pair and Banker pair
  • Either pair or perfect pair
  • Big and small (number of cards)
  • Bets on the winning total

Why side bets cost more

A side bet pays higher odds because it wins less often, so it feels generous when it hits. The catch is that the payouts are usually set so the house edge on side bets is larger than on the main Banker and Player bets. Over many rounds, the difference adds up, even if a lucky hit makes it feel otherwise.

For example, imagine you place a ৳50 main bet and a ৳20 side bet each round for fifty rounds. Your side bets alone total ৳1,000 in stakes, and they are the part of your wagering most likely to return less. The numbers are an illustration, but the shape is real: small, frequent extras add up.

Staying in control at the table

Treat side bets as optional garnish, not the main meal. A simple rule is to cap the combined side bets per round at a small fraction of your main bet, or skip them entirely when your session is going badly. Live tables are quick, and the next round starts quickly, so decide the rule before you sit.

Avoid patterns of "chasing" a pair or a tie that has not appeared. Past rounds do not affect the next one, as with any card shoe that is reshuffled by the table procedure. Our guides to gambling budgets and time limits explain how to keep a session within reasonable bounds.

Checking what BEE999 tables offer

We saw the BEE999 lobby list providers including JILI, PG Soft, JDB, Spribe, Microgaming and Fa Chai on 5 November 2026. We could not confirm which live baccarat tables or side bets are offered, since parts of the site need a login. Availability can change, so look at the live casino section yourself.

Open the table's info or rules icon and find the payout table for each side bet, plus any commission rules on the Banker bet. Compare tables before sitting down if the lobby shows several. Our live casino hub summarizes the other table games.

Step by step

Handle baccarat side bets in 3 steps

  1. 1
    Read the payout table

Open the table's rules and note each side bet, what wins it and how much it pays.

  2. 2
    Cap the side stake

Set a small limit for side bets per round, much lower than your main bet.

  3. 3
    Review after a session

Add up how much went on side bets versus main bets and decide whether they were worth the cost.

Questions Players Ask

What is a baccarat side bet?

It is an optional extra wager, such as a pair or the number of cards dealt, placed alongside the main Player, Banker or Tie bet. It settles on its own result.

Do side bets pay more than main bets?

Per win, usually yes, because they win less often. Over time they tend to cost more than the main Banker and Player bets, so they are better treated as small extras.

Are side bet payouts the same at every table?

No. Payouts and even names differ between providers and tables. Read the rules panel at the table you choose before staking.

Does a recent pair make another pair more likely?

No. Each round is independent, so past pairs or ties do not change the next result. Avoid betting based on what has or has not appeared recently.

Should beginners use baccarat side bets?

It is better to learn the main bets first. If you try side bets, keep them small and optional so they do not drive your overall spending.

Treat play as paid entertainment, not income. Decide your budget and time in advance, and stop as soon as either runs out. Responsible gaming
